Over 3,000 runners are expected for the Wounded Warrior Half Marathon in Las Colinas, Texas. The event will honor our men and women of the military and help raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and Fisher House. In addition to the Wounded Warrior Half Marathon, there will also be a 10K Run. The course start and finish will be around Williams Square with much of the race taking place on the beautiful Campion Trails. A post-race party is planned with food, drink and live music provided by country music recording artist Dave Roberts. The Texas-born Roberts, a Captain Cobra Pilot with the Marines.

Fisher House
Providing a “home away from home” for military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. There are 58 Fisher Houses located on 23 military installations and 21 VA medical centers. There are currently 11 Fisher Houses located in Texas with a 12th currently under construction. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 17,000 families, and have made available over four million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. Fisher House is also proud to administer and sponsor Scholarships for Military Children, the Hero Miles program, and cosponsors of the Newman’s Own Award.
Wounded Warrior Project
The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) serves military service members who incurred service-connected wounds, injuries, or illnesses on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. The WWP offers a very wide range of services to wounded warriors and their families in the immediate days following the injury, through recovery and beyond. Services include benefits counseling and representation, adaptive rehabilitative sporting programs, educational opportunities, networking and social events, programs for post-traumatic stress and combat stress recovery, respite retreats for caregivers, and much more. A full list is available on the website at woundedwarriorproject.org

Distance classification: HALF-MARATHON & 10K RUN
This is pretty simple, like Forest Gump, “We are running!” on Sunday, June 9, 2013. Here is where the sweat flies. The course starts and finishes in beautiful downtown Las Colinas, TX at Williams Square. The course is pretty much “hill-less” on the scenic and wooded Campion Trail. The day will include a half marathon (13.1 miles) and 10k run (6.2 miles). We are hard at work to make this a memorable day. We’ve been working with the Marines and the Wounded Warrior Regiment to make our 3rd year even bigger than last year.
