Monster Kids and Family Race

What started out as a single Halloween sprint event in Keller, TX has developed into three, scary sweatfests! A Monster Triathlon (Keller, Texas) a Monster Triathlon (Denton, Texas) and Kids Triathlon (Keller, Texas). 2012 marks the seventh-year for the Monster Kids and Family Triathlon which sells-out with 350 athletes (ages 4-14) months in advance.

The Keller Kids Triathlon is part of the Monster Triathlon weekend and a great way to get the kids involved in the sport of triathlon while benefiting a good cause.

Leap Frogs (4-6 age group):
Swim, 25 yards, bike 1 mile, run 1/3 mile
Road Runners (7-10 age group):
Swim 75 yards, bike 2 miles, run 1 mile
Gladiators (11-13) age group):
Swim 125 yards, bike 3 miles, run 1 mile

Children will swim in the Keller Natatorium, bike on a closed Bear Creek Parkway and run on the beautiful Keller trails.

Children are allowed to use training wheels on their bikes and life vests in the water

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s)

Does my child need a helmet?
All cyclists MUST wear helmets.

Which group/wave goes first?
Leap frogs are the first to take the plunge followed by Road Runners and Gladiators.

What is “Packet Pick-Up”
Packet Pick-Up is where you’ll receive race day information (race number, shirt, etc.) There is NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP!  You may pick your packet up for other kids or have someone pick up your packet. The child does not need to come to packet pick-up.

Here are two packet pick-up options for you. NOTE: Actual dates and times for 2012 TBD.

Are parents allowed on the course to help the child?
ONE parent is allowed in transition while the child transitions from swim to bike & bike to run. Parents are allowed in transition to help the child set-up.

NOTE: Parents are also allowed to do the run portion of the event with their big time triathlete child!

What if we have a bike problem (flat tire, bad chain, etc.) on race day?
Knobbies and Slicks Bike Shop will be on-hand to help. 

What else should I be asking?
Now that is a good question. Rather than have you read for the next few hours, we’ve added a MANDATORY parents and child meeting at the race site at 7:10 a.m. on race day. In a nutshell, don’t stress. Simply show up with a swimsuit, bike & helmet and some running shoes. We will take it from there.

11:00am Take Kids to there Next Event…. Soccer, Baseball, etc
